CORPORATE OFFICE SPACE:
THE CRUISE WEB DCS DESIGN PROJECT TEAM Calverton, MD - 14,500 SF CONCEPT The design goal was to create a colorful, bold, exciting, and inspiring space which would increase employee satisfaction, productivity and retention. The space was also designed to be a successful recruiting tool. Every significant design element, from large scale architecture to materials and details, was created as a thematic representation of a cruise ship or the cruising experience. Angled walls and other unique diagonal elements create an overall aesthetic of movement and the representation of a ship’s recognizable geometries. DESIGN ELEMENTS - Floating, multi-level, acoustic ceiling tiles which represent clouds. Positioned at different heights, the tiles create a dramatic visual effect, while also fulfilling the critical function of sound absorption. - An exposed ceiling painted blue to replicate the sky. Ceiling height and exposed infrastructure add to the unique, contemporary design. - Carpet and flooring which represent the colors and movement of the ocean. - Natural sunlight permeation. The office was designed so employees have access to natural sunlight at all points within the space. |
